- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 lb pork shoulder, diced
- 2 medium yellow onions, chopped
- 2 medium carrots, finely chopped
- 2 medium Yukon Gold potatoes, diced
- 1 package (17.3 oz) puff pastry (2 sheets)
- 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
- 2 tsp fresh thyme
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a deep-dish pie pan.
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and pork until cooked. Drain excess fat.
- Add onions, carrots, and potatoes; sauté for about 5 minutes until softened.
- Stir in salt, pepper, garlic powder, thyme, and bay leaf; add chicken broth to cover ingredients. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Roll out one sheet of puff pastry in the greased dish and fill with meat mixture. Cover with the second pastry sheet.
- Brush top with beaten egg and bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown.
