These pillowy rolls feature a golden crust, making them the perfect centerpiece for any meal or special occasion. Ideal for entertaining or cozy family dinners, each bite promises a burst of flavor that will have everyone reaching for seconds.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup whole milk (warm)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1/4 cup fresh sage leaves (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk to about 110°F (43°C) and dissolve yeast and sugar in it; let sit until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add melted butter, eggs, and yeast mixture. Mix until shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead on a lightly floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm spot until doubled (about 1 hour).
  5. Meanwhile, brown the butter over medium heat until golden; stir in chopped sage.
  6. Punch down dough, divide into small balls, and dip each ball into the sage-infused butter before placing in a greased baking dish.
  7. Cover rolls and let rise again until puffy (about 30 minutes). Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden.
