  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup whole milk, lukewarm
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup brown sugar (light or dark)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine lukewarm milk, sugar, and yeast; let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk flour and salt; add yeast mixture, softened butter, and eggs. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle; spread with softened butter and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Roll tightly into a log; slice into equal pieces (about 2 inches thick) and place cut-side up in a greased baking pan.
  7. Let rise for another 30 minutes while preheating the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Prepare cream cheese frosting by mixing softened cream cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla extract; drizzle over warm rolls before serving.
