Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour (sifted)
  • 1/2 cup protein powder (your choice)
  • 1 cup warm milk (whole or almond)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (lightly packed)
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, brown sugar, and yeast; let sit until frothy (about 5 minutes). Add melted butter, egg, protein powder, flour, and salt; knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  2. Let It Rise: Place dough in a greased bowl; cover with a damp cloth and let it rise until doubled in size (approximately 1 hour).
  3. Roll Out: Punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about half an inch thick. Spread softened butter over the surface.
  4. Sprinkle On The Goodness: Mix brown sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle this mixture evenly over the buttered dough. Optionally add nuts or dried fruit.
  5. Roll It Up: Tightly roll the dough from one end into a log shape; slice into even pieces about one inch thick and place them in a greased baking dish.
  6. Bake & Enjoy: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Let rolls rise again for an additional 30 minutes while oven heats up; bake for about 25 minutes until golden brown. Drizzle with icing made from powdered sugar mixed with milk before serving.
