  • ¾ cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 4 large eggs (room temperature)
  • ½ cup milk or buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch round cake pans and dust with flour.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, lemon zest, and lavender buds.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter until light and fluffy. Gradually add sugar and mix well.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add lemon juice and milk/buttermilk until combined.
  5. Gently fold dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter between prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Let cool before removing from pans.
