Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground pork
- 1 cup grated Granny Smith apples (about 2 apples)
- 1/4 cup fresh sage, chopped
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
- 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
Instructions
- 1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the diced onion until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
- 3. In a large bowl, combine ground pork, grated apples (peeled), chopped sage, sautéed onions, breadcrumbs, minced garlic, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well using your hands without overmixing.
- 4. Shape into golf ball-sized meatballs (about 1 oz each) and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- 5. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach at least 160°F).
- 6. While baking, prepare the sauce by simmering chicken broth and balsamic vinegar in a saucepan over medium heat for about 5 minutes until thickened.
- 7. Serve meatballs hot with the sauce drizzled on top.
