- 2 lbs Russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 2 cups cooked ham, diced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 medium yellow onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp butter (for greasing)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a large baking dish with butter.
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Add the diced onions and minced garlic; sauté until translucent (about 5 minutes).
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the greased baking dish. Top with half of the ham, sautéed onions and garlic, salt, pepper, and half of the cheddar cheese.
- Repeat layers with remaining ingredients.
- Pour heavy cream evenly over the layered ingredients until just covered.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
