  • 2 lbs Russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 cups cooked ham, diced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp butter (for greasing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a large baking dish with butter.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Add the diced onions and minced garlic; sauté until translucent (about 5 minutes).
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the greased baking dish. Top with half of the ham, sautéed onions and garlic, salt, pepper, and half of the cheddar cheese.
  4. Repeat layers with remaining ingredients.
  5. Pour heavy cream evenly over the layered ingredients until just covered.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
