These soft, fluffy buns are easy to make, filling your kitchen with an irresistible aroma that invites everyone to gather around the table. Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • 1 cup currants or raisins
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

  2. In another bowl, whisk together flour, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Create a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture.
  3. Add softened butter and eggs; knead until smooth (10 minutes by hand or 5 minutes with a mixer).
  4. Gently fold in currants or raisins.
  5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise for about an hour until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough, divide into equal portions, shape into balls, and place on a lined baking tray.
  7. Cover again and let rise for another 30-40 minutes until puffy.
  8. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
