  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup yellow onions, roughly chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, whole
  • 1/4 cup fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh sage, chopped
  • 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Remove giblets from the turkey and pat dry with paper towels.
  3. Rub softened butter over the entire turkey and season generously with salt and pepper.
  4. Stuff the cavity with onions, garlic, and fresh herbs.
  5. Place the turkey breast-side up on a rack in a roasting pan and roast for about 13–15 minutes per pound until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  6. After roasting, transfer turkey to a platter to rest while you prepare the gravy by whisking flour into the roasting pan drippings and adding chicken broth until thickened.
